Your puzzles stay close to home

Last updated: 16 October 2026. GridMew provides browser-based logic puzzles. Core play does not require an account, paid API or cloud game storage. This page explains how local progress, screenshots and hosting requests are handled.

Local progress and settings

GridMew uses this browser’s localStorage for the current practice and daily games, cat placements, × notes, active play time, hint use, completed records, lesson-reading flags, and display/control preferences. The data stays in this browser and is not synchronized to another device or browser.

Use My progress to export a JSON backup, import compatible records or clear progress. Clear progress keeps display and control settings; Restore default settings keeps puzzle history. Clearing browser site data can remove both. If storage is blocked or full, play can continue without reliable saving. Backups remain files on your device until you choose to share them.

Screenshots and custom boards

A screenshot you choose is decoded and sampled in this browser. The image, crop, extracted regions and custom board are not uploaded, added to a URL or sent to analytics. Cats and × marks are checked and added manually. Image buffers are released when you leave the workflow; a custom board is temporary and is not a cloud save.

Solving runs in a browser computation thread. This is local device work, not a Cloudflare server function. The site limits images to PNG/JPEG/WebP, 10 MiB and 20 million decoded pixels. Do not rely on this workflow as an archive of a file or custom board.

Hosting and ordinary requests

Loading GridMew requests static pages and assets from its hosting provider, Cloudflare. As with ordinary web hosting, the provider can receive request information such as IP address, requested path, browser headers and request time to deliver and protect the service. This is separate from GridMew uploading game positions or screenshot contents.

See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for the provider’s practices. We do not claim to control the provider’s own retention settings or policies.

Site usage and performance

GridMew uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page visits and loading performance. Cloudflare supplies its browser measurement script and receives usage and timing information. This is separate from locally stored puzzle records and the screenshot solver. Read its Web Analytics documentation and the Cloudflare privacy policy above.

Analytics cookies and your choices

To select a regional cookie setting, this site can request its own Cloudflare /cdn-cgi/trace endpoint. Cloudflare estimates the country from the connection. Our code reads only the country code and does not store or send the trace response or IP address to analytics. VPNs and proxies can affect the estimate. No browser location permission or additional geolocation provider is used.

When analytics is allowed under your regional settings or an explicit choice in Cookie settings, GridMew loads Google Analytics 4 and sends page views and limited events: game starts and completions, daily completions, hint levels and rule categories, share intent, opening the print view and non-sensitive game-load error categories. These events can include board size, difficulty, daily or practice mode, completion time and hint count. They do not include screenshot files, crop data, custom boards, cat positions, notes, full saved progress, email messages or local game-run IDs.

Google receives the requests and device/browser information needed to provide its service. Analytics cookies help distinguish browser visits and return visits; they do not identify a logged-in GridMew account, because there is no such account. The cookies are configured with a six-month lifetime. Page URLs sent by our code omit query strings and share fragments, and referrers are limited to their origin. Automatic enhanced measurement is off; Google Signals, advertising storage and advertising personalization are not enabled by this integration. See how Google uses information from partner sites.

We request consent before loading Google Analytics for visitors detected in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. For the United States, Australia and New Zealand, this limited, non-advertising analytics can load without an automatic popup; you can turn it off using Cookie settings. In other regions, or if the region check fails, analytics stays off unless you explicitly accept. This is our current regional configuration, not a statement that all other countries have the same rules. An explicit rejection always prevents loading, and we also honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals. We do not replay events from before analytics was allowed. You can change your choice using Cookie settings in the footer or Settings. Withdrawing consent disables collection, removes the analytics cookies our site can access and reloads the page to unload the tag; it does not delete events already sent to Google. Declining optional analytics does not affect play or local progress. Browser blocking and declined consent mean these reports measure only part of the audience.

External links and email

External links navigate to another provider when you choose to open them. Emailing [email protected] sends the information you choose through your mail provider to the contact mailbox. The local screenshot workflow itself does not send email.

Your choices and contact

You can export or clear progress in My progress and change display, control and analytics preferences in Settings. For a question about this page or information you intentionally emailed, contact [email protected]. Please identify the relevant message without sending unnecessary sensitive information.
